9 Families Evacuated from Impending Collapse of a Building

Ukhrul: As a safety measure, the District Administration of Ukhrul on Wednesday evacuated 9 families from Hungdung area, from an impending collapse of a house.

As per report received, a building at Hamleikhong C Block belonging to LK. Somi (Lamlang Village) is in a precarious condition and the families residing below the house has been evacuated.

In this connection, Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Kengoo Zuringla has directed SDO and SDCs of Ukhrul to carry out the necessary evacuation process in coordination with Ukhrul Police. The District Administration has also provided vehicles to carry their belongings to a temporary shelter being arranged at Indoor Stadium at Bakshi Ground, Hungpung.

OC of Ukhrul PS, Chuingam Ningshen informed that evacuation process was completed at around 6:40pm.

Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul has directed all departments to stay alert and report any alarming or dangerous situations arising out of the Cyclone Remal.
