9th Poumai Premier League concludes in Senapati

Senapati: The 9th edition of the Poumai Premiere League ended with representatives from the Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur (SDOAM), Naga Peoples’ Organization (NPO), Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA), Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (PNTM) and thousands of football lovers in attendance to witness the event.

Gracing the occasion as the chief guest, Joram Koveo, the president of SDOAM said, “The event is a historic moment and a giant leap for the Poumai Naga Community.” He lauded the organizing committee for giving platforms for young soccer aspirants and urged the gathering to cultivate the spirit of brotherhood despite differences. He also emphasized discipline, perseverance and dedication as pillars for reaching the pinnacle of success in sports.

“Sports is a sunrise industry. Identifying sporting talents nurturing sportsmanship as a profession and being stewards of change and development are the cornerstones of a progressive community. Discipline, perseverance and dedication are ladders to reaching the pinnacle of success in sports,” he added.

In the grand finale, Paokhaodu FC dueled with Ratung FC. It was an absolute see-saw battle between the two teams who gave it their all on the pitch. In the epic clash, the match went in favour of Paokhaodu FC 1-0 riding on a solitary goal scored by its forward, Ladii.

The winner walked away with a coveted trophy and a cash prize of Rs 60,000 while the runners-up bagged Rs 30,000. Lolly, the forward of Ratung FC was adjudged player of the tournament. The Golden Boot and Golden Glove were won by Chinakho A and D Chinavei of Paokhaodu FC respectively.
