I don’t entertain empty structures inaugurations, lone Ukhrul Congress MLA Arthur says

Decrying the quality deficient inaugurations spree attitude of the day’s, Alfred Kanngam who is the lone representative of 44 Ukhrul AC said that he had never done any sorts of inaugurations as an MLA as there is nothing to show off let alone quality.

He said this while speaking at the Khayang eco-tourism project as a chief guest. All the facilities required in this project will be provided within the month of March, the visiting local MLA assured before adding: To attract tourists in these region, people need to incorporate hospitality while creating peaceful and tourist friendly environment.

He continued that youth must take pro-active role to streamline the opportunities that will come from this fast booming sector which will generate huge employment.

Tourism centric items including tourist lodge, cultural hall, village gate, three view points, two rest camps, 9 home stays and three foot paths were inaugurated.

Khayang and its adjoining areas are known for offering majestic topography and landscapes. Located at extreme part of eastern border, it took nearly 5 to 6 hours to reache Khayang village.

Khayang peak, kachouphung lake, kazei keirak and scores of water falls etc. in addition to rich flora and fauna will delight the adventure lovers as they crisscross this beautiful landscapes.

The much tauted Khayang eco-tourism project was initiated by former NEC secretary, Ramnganing Muivah.

Visiting the areas for the first time, Lily Rose Jajo, Director UDCRMS, who was enamoured by the nature rich ecosystem amid fresh water and air enveloping the vast forest, urged the inhabitants to conserve forest and environment in the region.

The project was constructed at an estimated cost of 1,49,77,444 lakhs with UDCRMS/ NERCOMP, Ukhrul as the implementing agency. It was funded by North East Council (NEC), government of India. The project started on 28 November, 2018.

The program was jointly organised by UDCRMS Ukhrul and Khayang NARMG.

It may be mentioned that UDCRMS Ukhrul has taken up series of development projects in the district in addition to educating grassroots to further improve their livelihoods. Today’s project is one of the many projects it has been taking up in the district.

Remarkably, Ukhrul District Community Resource Management Society(UDCRMS) earlier NERCORMP is implementing 21 projects at a total cost of Rs.6196.59 lakhs funded by NEC, NABARD, MSME, AAI & DECL under CSR, some of which include construction of Khasimla Women’s Market at Naga Gate, Hungpung, Subji Mandis, wayside Amenities at various locations like Patkai Christian Academy Junction, Muirei & Ramrei Eco Tourism Development, Khayang Eco Tourism Development, Resource Centre at Hungpung, Indoor Stadium at Somdal, Road from Yaingangpokpi to South Lousing, Synthetic football turf at Langdang, among others.

The two – day long event was attended by Phillip, SDO Sahamphung Block, Ngachangthing president ZTKL, Kaphaoleng Angkang General secretary TNWL, Ephrain president Sambu student Union, SRL and villagers among other.

Various Tangkhul artists including Guru AS. Rawung, Oshimwo, upcoming star performer Mashun Shaiza, Kakami, Semmichon Kashung, and Shonshon rocked the event eve.
