Manipur receives 50 oxygen concentrators sent by Centre

Oxygen concentrators sent by the Union ministry of Health and Family Welfare will be supplied to the hospitals across the state, the source disclosed.

The Manipur government on Sunday received 50 oxygen concentrators sent by the Union ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The oxygen concentrators were brought to Imphal by a special flight of the Indian Air Force landed at Imphal Airport today, an official source said.

The Centre provided the oxygen concentrators to meet the medical oxygen required in the healthcare centres of the state. Like in the other states, hospitals in the state are also facing medical oxygen shortage.

The oxygen concentrators received on Sunday will be supplied to the hospitals across the state, the source disclosed.

Meanwhile, a private hospital in Manipur reserved five of its 100-bedded dedicated COVID-19 block for frontline workers including media persons.

Raj Medicity hospital in Imphal’s North AOC has been running a dedicated Covid care block since the viral infection hit the state last year. 

The 45-bedded Covid care facility block was upgraded to a 100-bedded block with 25 of them with ICU facility on Sunday.

Managing director of the hospital, H Rajen Singh said that of the 100 beds, the hospital authority reserved five beds for treatment if any of the frontline workers including media persons is exposed to the virus.
They will be treated free of cost, the managing director said, in a statement.
