The Tangkhul Civil Societies led by Tangkhul Naga Long has vehemently condemned the brutal murder of Thotreichan Kashung aged 31, S/o Mothang Kashung and Naosomi Lungleng aged 29, S/o Lt. Lightson Lungleng both residents of Sinakeithei village in a joint press release issued on Tuesday refusing to take back the dead bodies until the culprits are arrested.
Stating that such act can cause communal misunderstanding and disturb the existing community harmony, the CSOs of Tangkhul Community urged upon the district Administrations of Ukhrul and Kangpokpi districts to arrest the suspected assailants at the earliest until such time the CSOs refuse to take back the dead bodies after post mortem, the statement said.
According to the joint press release, the two innocent victims went missing on August 4, 2021. Their highly decomposed dead bodies were found on the river banks of Ihang at around 3 pm on August 8.
The release maintained that the two Sinakeithei villagers were murdered and executed in a barbaric, cold blooded, pre-planned manner according to the extend and nature of injuries suggest, as they were bound and blindfolded without any provocation.
The Tangkhul CSOs also appealed the state government of Manipur and law enforcement agencies to take all necessary action before the situation escalates and snowball into a mass-unwanted law and order problem, the joint release warned.
In conclusion, the collective Tangkhul Civil Societies said that it resolve to stand together in solidarity with the family of the two families and demanded a befitting justice and that victims families are duly compensated with suitable ex-gratia payment.
