Ukhrul, June 9: The Central Administrative Office of the Wung Tangkhul Region under the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim has issued a fresh directive reinforcing its ban on poppy cultivation within its jurisdiction.
According to the new order (No. 27-42/2025/ORD/WTR), dated June 9, 2025, the cultivation of poppy is strictly prohibited across the region. The directive, signed by NG. Athot, Secretary of the Wung Tangkhul Region, comes in continuation of an earlier directive issued on April 10, 2024.

In a firm stance, the office also declared that any form of taxation imposed on poppy plantations is illegal and must be closely monitored and prevented. “Non-compliance to this order shall be treated as willful defiance which will necessitate stern action as deemed fit,” the order warned.
The directive takes immediate effect, signaling a zero-tolerance policy towards poppy-related activities in the region. Authorities have been instructed to enforce the order strictly and ensure that no violations occur.
