The Koide Women Society celebrated Cosmos Festival at Naamai Zho that has become the dreamboat of tourists and the talk of the town in recent times following proper SOPs.
Yuh Jonathan Tao, vice president, BJP Manipur Pradesh and Panii James, SDO/BDO, T Waichong and Kangpokpi graced the occasion as the chief guest and guest of honour. The presence of prominent media fraternity from the likes of Free Press Journal, Hyderabad Headlines, Imphal Free Press, Imphal Times and Youtube sensation Kabi Tingchoi added spice and flavour to the coloured gatherings. Cultural infotainment by the Cosmos mamas’ and Cosmos luncheon were the signature of the event.
Mrs Kh. Paosiiru, the chairperson and convenor of the symbolic event reminded the gathering of the Cosmos bloom is a living testimony of how women can be a powerful instrument in channelling positive changes in society. “The initiative began in 2018 on seeing the increasing number of footfalls visiting the pristine valley. Cosmos blooms at a time when the famous rice cultivar “Phaoreng” begins to bear its panicles. The Cosmos was introduced in the barren land with much jeers and sweats. It is not just a symbol of perfect harmony and sacred geometry of energy but a reminder to the sons and daughters of Naamai, the sacrifices of their forefathers who had bartered the most fertile field beneath the valley in exchange for their education,” she added.
Speaking at the occasion, Jonathan Tao lauded the initiatives of the Cosmos mamas’ as an epitome of hard work and perseverance. He remarked, “This beautiful story of women pioneering nature stewardship is a model worthy of emulation”. He exalted and encouraged to expand the plantation and assured them of needful landscaping planting materials.
James Pani, the guest of honour spoke on the importance of collective responsibilities and urged the gathering to formulate visionary plans for making it a sustainable tourism destination. “The Cosmos represents genuine love and affection”. Hence, visitors must treat the garden not just as a picturesque flower for selfies and photographs but a living entity,” he lamented. He appealed and urged the visitors not to destroy the wonder daisies.
