Vice President Naidu Stresses Need to Encourage and Support People with Innovative Ideas in Manipur

Vice President, M Venkaiah Naidu after passing through Assam, followed by Meghalya arrived in Imphal today in what is his first visit to Manipur as Vice President of India for his official two-day state visit.

VP Naidu was accorded a warm welcome at Imphal International Airport as he flew in from Guwahati to Imphal by Governor, La Ganesan, Chief Minister N Biren, joined by other ministers and MLAs.

VP Naidu who is currently touring Northeast states in an address in Assam on Sunday said initiatives over the past seven-and-a-half years reveal the union government’s initiative in promoting all round development, peace and prosperity have been the top priorities for the central government.

In his speech in Shillong on Monday, he observed that “If Northeast region progresses, India progresses. If the lags behind, India lags behind.”

The Vice President today inaugurated Phytopharmaceutical laboratory at the Institute of Bio Resources & Sustainable Development, IBSD at Takyelpat in Imphal.

Speaking on the event, VP Naidu said, preserving the biological resources found in the state and enhancing Traditional Health Care Sector will boost the state’s economy. Stressing the need to encourage and support scientists and people with innovative idea, VP Naidu said that he is monitoring various such institute across the county.

The newly inaugurated lab will manufacture various herbal medicines for curing various ailments.

At the closing of the day, VP Naidu interacted with Manipur Olympians and attended a cultural program at Raj Bhavan, Imphal.
