A fire incident at Phellong village in Tousem sub-division gutted one house into ashes at around 8 AM on Thursday. The house belonged to one Arambou Pamai, poor unemployed villager, the lone bread earner of the family who lost all rations lost his life long earnings and rations to feed his family, according to a statement from 44 Assam Rifles.
The statement said that during the time of the fire, the villagers had left their houses busy with reaping paddy harvest at the paddy field.
The village is located approximately 35 kms away from district HQ, Tamenglong.
The statement from 44 AR said the desperate farmer approached 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sector/ IGAR (East) for assistance. The Azuram Company commander immediately sprung into action and extended a helping hand.
44 AR made immediate relief arrangements of basic ration items for Arambou Pamai and his family. “The battalion has assured him of all possible help to bring his family back to normal life. Meanwhile the fellow villagers have started repairing his house to provide a shelter over family’s head during these harsh winters,” the statement added.
