Mon: In an unconfirmed report coming out of Mon Sadar Circle of Mon district in Nagaland, at least seven Oting villagers were allegedly shot dead by Assam Rifles in an ambush on Saturday evening around 4 pm.
Sources said that the the Oting villagers were returning from coal mining area, on their way to their village from Tiru by pick up truck when the ambush took place.
According to reliable sources, situation in the area is grievously tense as the public are confronting in retaliation to the killing of seven villagers, setting ablaze vehicles belonging to Assam Rifles and unconfirmed number of personnel caught by the public. The number of casualty could substantially rise by morning as the confrontation with Assam Rifles continues, sources added.

Information of bombing and firing has been heard at the time of filing this report.
Update: Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio has tweeted over the incident in Mon district. Orders SIT probe.
