Manipur’s cumulative Covid-19 vaccination stands at 24,36,837; Logs 418 fresh cases

Imphal: Manipur’s COVID-19 test positivity rate remained above 15% for the fifth consecutive day as the rate was 18.1% on Monday.

The state recorded a steady surge in the daily infection and daily test positivity rate (TPR) since the first week of the current month, January.

The TPR was 15.22% on January 20, 19.34% on January 21, 18.12% on January 22 and 16.35% on January 23.

The state recorded 418 fresh cases upon testing of 2,311 samples in the last 24 hours, taking the COVID-19 infection tally of the state to 1,30,490 on Monday.

The fatality toll took to 2,027 with two more infected patients succumbed in the past 24 hours, the state COVID-19 Common Control Room said, in its latest bulletin.

One each fatality was reported in Kakching and Senapati district. One of them was fully vaccinated with the first and second dose of COVID-19 vaccine while both of them had comorbidities, it claimed.

The active cases in the state surged to 3450 even as 379 patients reported as discharged upon recovery on the day took the recovery tally of the state to 1,25,013.

The actual number of patients discharged on the day was 333, however, due to various reasons, 46 persons were reported as discharged cases only today.

Therefore, the total number of recovered cases was considered as 379 after reconciliation with reports from the IDSP team, home isolation team, community home isolation and hospitalization team as of Monday.

The recovery rate also dropped down further to 95.80 %.

The bulletin said that 403 persons (219-males, 184-females) from the general population and 15 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest data of the state IDSP, 237 of the total fresh cases reported from Imphal West district, 72 from Imphal East, 19 in Thoubal, 18 in Bishnupur, 15 in Churachandpur and 12 in Senapati district

Of the remaining 10 districts, six districts reported below 10-mark and no fresh cases in two districts –Noney and Pherzawl.

The number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered on Sunday was 1010. Adding this, the cumulative doses administered in the state so far rose to 24,36,837.

Of these total, 13,88,623 were first doses, 1032925 second doses and 15,289 precautionary doses, the Health department added.
