Goods worth over Rs 30 crore and cash over 1.5 crore seized in Nagaland

Kohima: As part of implementing election model code of conduct in Nagaland, authorities have seized banned goods worth around Rs 30 crore and over Rs 1.5 crore in cash since the announcement of the poll date. The Election Commission of India announced the date of the poll on January 18. This means that the seizures were made in the past 20 days.

The office of the Chief  Electoral Officer (CEO) of Nagaland informed today that the “monetary value of the progressive seizures made by various enforcement agencies from the date of announcement till February 7 is Rs.31,03,03,137 (Thirty one crore three lakh three thousand one hundred and thirty seven).

The total seizures of cash is Rs. 1,62,03850, 40925.65 litres of IMFL worth Rs. 42215501, 3.06 kilograms of drugs/narcotics worth 23,32,68,354 and “freebies/other items” worth Rs 18,61,5432, according to the office of the CEO.

It said that on February 7 itself, authorities have seized Rs.60,000, 491.08 litres of liquor worth Rs. 4,21,076, 0.0125 kg of drugs/narcotics, 6909 capsules of SP, 210 bottles of cough syrup worth Rs. 15,51,273,  and “freebies and other items worth Rs.20,32,349.”
