Assam: Dreaded ULFA-I Commander Uday Asom shot dead

Tinsukia: A field commander of the United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) has been shot dead by the Assam police, news reports say.

The ULFA-I senior leader, Uttam Lahon, also known as Uday Asom was reportedly killed following a fierce gunbattle on the wee hours of  Thursday at Malugaon area, under Margherita PS in Assam’s Tinsukia district.

News reports say that Uday Asom was gunned down at around 1:30 AM on Thursday.

“Member of the banned ULFA-I, Uttam Lahon alias Uday Asom, was killed in a fierce gunfight with security forces in Tinsukia district,” Gaurav Abhijit Dilip, SP of Tinsukia district of Assam was quoted saying to Northeast Now news-site.
