Kohima: Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated 100 W FM transmitters at Mon and also at Tuensang, both in eastern Nagaland, along with 91 new 100W FM and dedicated them to the nation from New Delhi today.
At Mon, Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha, S. Phangnon Konyak graced the occasion as the guest of honour. She said it was a great privilege to be a part of Mon district coming to a net of information.
On behalf of Mon district, she thanked the AIR for introducing it. She also said that it is the vision of the Prime Minister that no one should be left out even in such a far-flung area like Mon. “In this digital world, information is a very powerful weapon that one cannot do anything without. Radio is one of the cheapest, most affordable means of communication where one can get accurate news. She added that this is a platform where one can contribute and also learn. She urged the citizens of Mon to lend their cooperation, so in the future, a proper station will be set up to cover the whole district.
At Tuensang, during the virtual inauguration of the 100W FM transmitter by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, deputy commissioner of Tuensang district, Nokchasashi said that opening the FM station at Tuensang would greatly benefit the people of the area, as people rely on the radio for their communication, to get information and news. He further said that the FM Station would transmit information about locally relevant programmes, education, health, and social issues to the masses which can bring a significant change in the life of the people.
