Manipur MP Lorho Pfoze inaugurates 5G Use Case Application project at DHS

Senapati: Outer Manipur Member of Parliament, Dr Lorho Pfoze inaugurated the 5G use case application project implemented by AMTRON, Guwahati at District Hospital, Senapati on Friday. Senapati district is stated to be the first to implement the project in the Northeast region. Applications include a non-mydriatic fundus camera (NFC), express ECG, digital foot scan and infusion monitor. 

Virtual inauguration of 5G Applications in the Northeast region with hub at AMTRON, Guwahati was screened online before the start of the program.

While expressing gladness, Dr M Sokha-a, MS, District Hospital, Senapati stated that apart from supplying all such important equipment to the district health care centre, the doctors were also reportedly taught how to measure heartbeat, and respiratory systems through mobile phones. The medical superintendent of the district hospital lauded the MP for all the initiatives brought to the district adding that he is the first MP to bring such remarkable achievements to the health care centre. Coming from a medical doctor background, the MS stated that the present MP knows the importance of the health care system and has brought such facilities which would be very beneficial to all who expect that more such facilities would be brought through him. 

Speaking at the gathering, Dr Lorho Pfoze, MP, outer Manipur, govt of India stated the importance of regular health checkups to stay fit.

Coming from a doctor’s background, the MP also stated that he wanted to give more emphasis to the health sector in the state. With the introduction of such artificial intelligence technology, the MP stated that the services could really benefit all, especially people who come from remote areas to get the result of a health check-up within a few minutes. With betterhealth facilities, the MP is hopeful to reduce fatalities as well as can refer immediately to other health facilities. Terming diabetes as a silent killer, the MP stated that diabetes when left unattended and not taken proper care could lead one toblindness. Such more applications are stated to be arriving shortly while expressing his concern for the improvement of health care systems. At the right time detection of any disease could ward off unwanted illness in the body, he said, adding Senapati is one of the first districts in the Northeast to get all such facilities. Installation of such applications in other hill districts is also stated to be in line. While urging all to work for the benefit of all, Dr Pfoze said that it is when each one puts in one’s best service collectively to make the best district asking all to give one’s sincerity, and focus and not be diverted. The MP also advised the doctors to give their best while dealing with patients as some said that 75% of patients suffer from physical pain and the rest suffer from the mind. The MP urged the doctors to mind the way they talk to their patients, their approach, attitude and the way they try to understand the problems of the patients, asking the doctors to listen to their problems more so as to bring solutions.

Chief medical officer, Senapati, Dr Sumpi Percy in her concluding remark stated that the introduction of artificial intelligence technology in healthcare facilities can enhance clinical decision-making, better patient health outcomes, capable of determining precise Dx, modelling disease progression and calculating Rx plans which allow them to perform their duties more efficiently.

A live demonstration of artificial intelligence technology was showcased by Dr Jennifer Nane, Ophthalmologist, District Hospital, Senapati about NFC and Dr James Vincent, physician, District Hospital, Senapati about ECG and infusion monitor mentioning how the appliances can work wonders within a short duration of time.
