Kangpokpi: In a recent press release, the Committee on Tribal Unity has strongly condemned the repeated aggression on Kuki-Zo dominated areas by valley-based secessionist militants.
The committee alleged that these militants breached buffer zones with tactical and logistical support from the incumbent Chief Minister, N. Biren Singh.

The statement further accused Chief Minister Biren Singh of attempting to justify his political stance to both his constituents and the central government, despite the ongoing aggression in Kuki-Zo areas.
The recent breach of buffer zones by Meitei militants near Lambung Peak on March 5, 2024, has heightened tensions in the region.

According to the Committee on Tribal Unity, the targeted attacks on the peace-loving Kuki-Zo community highlight the lack of peace initiatives from the majority Meitei community.
Additionally, the committee expressed disappointment over certain Meitei media outlets allegedly blaming the Kuki community for the conflict.

The press release concluded with a call for Chief Minister N. Biren Singh to rein in armed militias and secessionist militants, such as the Arambai Tenggols, and to ensure respect for buffer zones to maintain semblance of peace in the respective areas.
