Clean Doyang Mission undertaken in Nagaland

Dimapur: The Clean Doyang Mission was successfully completed on June 12, 2024. Doyang is an important river in Nagaland.

The Clean Doyang Mission, which commenced on June 7, 2024, was initiated with the objective to counter the problem of plastic wastes which had accumulated at Doyang reservoir.

Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, while commenting on the successful completion of the mission stated that the mission was initiated on a mission mode, where an area task force was constituted, headed by EAC Sungro, to assess the requirement of manpower, machineries and other logistic arrangements and officially started the work on June 8, 2024.

The Deputy Commissioner expressed his appreciation to Advisor for Agriculture & Chairman DPDB Wokha, Mhathung Yanthan for personally visiting the area and encouraging the team for the successful completion of the Clean Doyang Mission.

He also expressed his appreciation to all the teams and volunteers involved in the mission including Pangti, village, Dhillong village and the neighbouring villages around the Doyang, Englan Range Student’s Union (ERSU), and Lotha Student’s Union. He also thanked Team Better Dimapur Eco Warriors Nagaland.

The DC also thanked personnel from 7th NAP, DEF and SDRF who had played a vital role in successfully completing the mission.

The DC informed that segregation of waste was also done at the site before it was transported to various processing centres. He further stated that, to prevent such occurrences in the future, the district administration will be in touch with the State Government and seek advice to counter such issue.

Ranjan requested the public and neighbouring villages of the Doyang area to come up with certain resolutions in managing waste in order to keep the catchment area plastic-free and to make Doyang clean and beautiful.
