Ukhrul: The prohibitory orders restricting the movement of individuals outside their residences in Ukhrul Headquarters have been lifted.
Relentless efforts continue day and night to recover the missing weapons under the supervision of Ukhrul SP Karthik Malladi (IPS), Additional SP Ringthing Hongchui (MPS), and SDPO Hopkinson Chiphang (MPS). A team led by Inspector Marchang W., Officer-in-Charge of Ukhrul Police Station, recovered an AK-47 rifle on Tuesday, bringing the total number of recovered weapons to 19 out of 20. Only one 9mm pistol remains to be found, and the search operations are ongoing. Meanwhile, Ukhrul Police has appealed to those in possession of the missing weapon to surrender it.
The prohibitory orders, issued by the Office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Ukhrul, via Cril. Misc. Case No. 4 of 2024, dated October 2, 2024, had imposed restrictions on public movement under Section 163 of the Bharatya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2024.

“Due to the improving law and order situation, there is a necessity to relax the aforementioned restrictions on public movement,” stated the order issued by Ukhrul District Magistrate, Kengoo Zuringla (IAS).
Restrictions on public movement have been lifted effective from 9th October 2024 (Wednesday), from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM, between Mini Secretariat and PNB, Viewland. However, this relaxation does not apply to gatherings, sit-in protests, or rallies without prior permission from the competent authority.
“Furthermore, movement of essential service personnel, including those in health, electricity, CAF&PD, PHED, telecom, banking/financial institutions, press, electronic media, and passengers traveling to and from the airport, shall remain exempted beyond the relaxation period,” added the order.
