The Meghalaya Lokayukta chairman, PK Musahary, has rejected the inquiry report on the alleged GHADC embezzlement submitted by former DSP of East Garo Hills Challang Ch Momin after the findings were challenged by questioned by petitioner Nilbath Ch Marak.
Mushahary has also directed the Meghalaya DGP to appoint another DSP rank officer from Shillong to investigate the matter.
Marak had approached the Lokayukta against the chairman of the current executive committee of the GHADC, Denang T Sangma, over the alleged misuse of central funds meant for the development of Williamnagar.
“The case has been filed over non-implementation of the projects allotted to Williamnagar constituency and in pursuance to the Complaint Case No. 5 of 2020, the chairman of the Lokayukta has directed the DGP Meghalaya to start the preliminary inquiry on June 23 and to submit the report within four weeks,” said lawyer PT Sangma, who represents Nilbath.
Nilbath had filed a strong objection petition against the inquiry report.
“In pursuance to the objection petition filed by the complainant, the Lokayukta, in order dated September 21, has directed the Meghalaya DGP to appoint one DSP from Shillong in place of Challang Ch Momin, the then DSP of East Garo Hills, and further directed the new inquiry officer to expedite the detailed inquiry and submit the report at the earliest,” said the lawyer’s report on the issue.
