The operation was launched following credible intelligence input that armed miscreants had concealed a large quantity of weapons in the area, police also said.

The team was equipped with a metal detector and an IED detection dog to aid in the search.

The operation, which commenced at 6 AM and concluded by 8 am, was carried out in the adjoining areas of Saiton Khunou and Saiton Haiyaikon, police said.

During the search, the IED dog signaled the presence of a concealed explosive device in a bamboo bush.

A subsequent inspection led to the recovery of a significant cache that included rifles, ammunition, a walkie-talkie set, flare rounds, an IED weighing around 890 grams, and protective gear such as BP jackets and headgear.

All recovered items were seized as per procedure, and further legal actions are underway, police added.
