An order of the Department of Higher and Technical Education issued on Friday has instructed teaching and non-teaching staff of government colleges in Manipur to attend their duties in their respective institutions, even though there is no immediate plan to re-open educational institutions.
The order reminded an order of the state Home department issued on October 31 that highlighted the fresh guidelines for ‘unlocked’ to be applied in the entire state.
While attending their duties in their respective colleges, the staff must discharge their duties following proper ‘COVID appropriate behaviour’ as issued by the Central and state government from time to time.
All principal(s) and principal(s)-in-charge of all government colleges under the department are also instructed to ensure strict compliance of the order attached with a warning that defaulters will face “necessary actions”. Schools and colleges have been closed down since 12 March 2020, well ahead of the country-wide lockdown that commenced from March 24 owing to the COVID-19 pandemic because of which teachers and administrative staff and colleges have refrained from attending their duties till date.
