Manipur police commandos arrested three persons with huge quantities of heroin powder and WY tablets in three separate operations in the last 24 hours.
Police said that one of the alleged drug peddlers has been identified as Md Amu (45), son of late P Hakim of Lilong Usoipokpi Tharaorok of Thoubal district. He was arrested by a team of Bishnupur district police commandos during a frisking and checking operation at Keinou Thongkha along Imphal-Churachandpur Road yesterday (Wednesday), around 6.30 pm, according to the police.
The police then said a total of 140 grams of heroin powder was found during the checking of the vehicle, the police source said. The arrested person and seized items were handed over to Bishnupur police station for further necessary legal action, the police source further said.
In another operation, the same team of police commandos arrested one more alleged drug peddler on the same day around 10 pm.
Police said the arrested alleged drug paddler was identified as Md Nongyai Rafijuddin (34), son of late Md Amenuddin of Kwakta Ward no. 4 and seized 70,000 pieces of WY tablets which were found carrying in a vehicle he was driving. He was arrested from an inter-village road connecting Maronglou Lamhang and Kwakta. The arrested person and the seized items were handed over to Moirang police station where a case was registered, the police source said.
In yet another incident, one more alleged drug peddler was also arrested by a combined team of Bishnupur district police commandos and Thoubal district police commando on Thursday.
Md Ibungo (33), son of Md Amadali of Sangaiyumpham Nungphou Bazaar Mamang Leikai of Thoubal district was arrested after 658 gram of heroin powder was found during a search operation in his house today morning, around 5 am, police said.
During the search, one i20 silver in colour without registration number was thoroughly checked and found the 658 gram of heroin powder which were concealed inside the body chassis of the car.
The arrested person and seized items were handed over to Thoubal police station for further necessary action, the police said.
