As part of the “Go to Hills” mission, an initiative of the government of Manipur, state chief minister N. Biren Singh led his council of ministers and other top officials and held cabinet meeting at Senaptai district headquarters on Wednesday. The chief minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministeri Y. Joykumar, Works Minister Th. Biswajit and CAF & PD Minister Th. Satyabrata.
This is the second such state cabinet meeting held at Senapati district. The first was held on 18 April, 2018. On his visit, he also re-launched Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana for Senapati District Hospital and handed over an ambulance to the Chief Medical Officer, Senapati.
The program included inauguration of 8 different projects that had been implemented in the district and review of important works being undertaken in the district with focus on projects/packages announced by Chief Minister in previous visit to the district, laying of foundation stones for projects sanctioned for the district and interaction with local leaders and representative of district Civil Society Organizations.
Inauguration of the various 8 projects consisted of SDO Office complex at Song Song (Mao), Rain Water Harvesting structure at Likhuri Kalinamai, Transit Hostel for Doctors and Teachers at Senapati, Trauma Centre at District Hospital, Senapati, Health and Wellness centres at 6 different Primary Health centres including Maram, Bendramai, Tadubi, Paomata, Laii and Oinam Hills, Blood Bank at District Hospital, Senapati and Blood Storage at Sub-District Hospital, Mao, Purul Hr. Secondary School under School Fagathansi Mission and Construction of Divisional Office Building at Senapati.
Chief Minister also laid foundation stones for 5 projects in the district consisting of 33/11 KV Power Sub-Station at Liyai Khunou, 33/11 KV Power Sub-Station at Oinam Hill, Construction of Road from L022-Lakhamai to Thiwa under PMGSY and Construction of Workshed for Senapati District Women’s Association (SDWA). Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojna for District Hospital, Senapati was also launched and handed over an ambulance to the district CMO.
The next session was followed by a public interaction with the chief minister and his council of ministers where all his ministers were present. L. Dikho, Minister, PHED, Printing & Stationery in his welcome keynote urged the people of Senapati to cooperate with the Govt while various developmental projects are underway.
Memorandum submitted by the district frontal organizations included setting up of a medical college in the district, construction of inter district BU parking in the district headquarters, bus service from Senapati headquarters to Dimapur via Kohima.
The district frontal organizations also urged the chief minister and his council of ministers to complete the pending projects including the Nursing Academic School and Hostel at Katomei, Multi-Purpose Sports Complex at Karong, construction of shopping complex at Old Monday Market, Senapati, Polytechnic Building at TNK, Senapati and IIIT at Mayangkhang, Senapati.
The Mao Council also presented a memorandum to the chief minister to implement the already inaugurated Tribal Freedom Fighters Museum proposed at Makhel village under Senapati district.
In his speech, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh highlighted the various projects undertaken in the district and soon to be implemented projects in the district. He expressed happiness that people of Senapati have become more sensible as the district has become a bandh and blockade free district during his period as the state chief minister while urging all to participate to make a strong nation.
