Manipur Speaker, MLAs Visit Family of Martyred BSF Jawan Deepak Chingakham

Imphal, May 14: A delegation of Manipur legislators led by Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata Singh visited the residence of BSF constable Deepak Chingakham at Yairipok Yambem Mathak Leikai in Imphal East today to pay their respects and extend condolences to the bereaved family.

Constable Deepak Chingakham who joined the BSF in April 2021, succumbed to injuries sustained during cross-border firing in the RS Pura Sector of Jammu on May 10 and passed away the next day, May 11.

A native of Manipur and the sole breadwinner of his family, his death has triggered an outpouring of grief and admiration for his service.

A two-minute silence was observed in honor of the deceased jawan, following which the Speaker and the MLAs handed over monetary assistance to Chingakham Angou Singh, the deceased father.

They also assured the family that necessary support and benefits would be extended once the popular government is formed in the state.

The MLAs who accompanied the Speaker were Tongbram Robindro Singh, Lourembam Rameshwor Meetei, Paonam Brojen Singh, Sapam Nishikanta Singh, Khuraijam Loken Singh, Kongkham Robindro Singh, Shiek Noorul Hassan and Dr. Yumnam Radheshyam Singh.
