Manipur on Saturday observed 81st Nupi Lan Day 2020 at the Nupi Lan Memorial Complex, Imphal, remembering the “brave mothers” who fought against the “mass exploitation and artificial famine” triggered by the then government under the British.
The State level function, which was graced by Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Yumnam Joykumar, Cabinet Ministers, MPs, MLAs, the Chief Secretary, the DGP, top civil and police officials of the State.
The Chief Minister led the gatherings in paying floral tributes to the statue of brave mothers of the State who valiantly fought against the British policies thereby making supreme sacrifices in the agitation.
Addressing the media persons at the observance, N. Biren Singh said that the state had been observing Nupi Lan Numit every year as a remembrance to the courage and spirit shown by the women of the state challenging the then mightiest world power.
