Meghalaya reports one COVID-19 related death

One more COVID-19 related death was reported in Meghalaya to take the death toll to 139 in the state on Wednesday.

 Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War then said that 21 persons have tested positive for CVID-19 while 19 have recovered from the viral infection in the past 24 hours.

He said the new cases include 16 from East Khasi Hills district, 3 West Garo Hills district, 1 South West Garo Hills district and 1 West Jaintia Hills district.

Of 19 recovered patients, Dr War said 10 are from East Khasi Hills, 4 Ri Bhoi, 3 West Garo Hills, 1 North Garo Hills and 1 South Garo Hills district.

So far, the state has detected a total of 13,407 COVID-19 cases out of which 184 are active cases, 13,085 recovered and 139 deaths.

Of the total active cases, East Khasi Hills has 135 positive cases, West Garo Hills 14, Ri Bhoi 24, South West Garo Hills 3, East Garo Hills 1, West Khasi Hills 5, North Garo Hills 1.

West Jaintia Hills, East Jaintia Hills and South Garo Hills have zero cases.

“Till date, swab samples of 2,91,959 persons have been tested of which 2,78,551 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.

There are 77,648 entrants from outside the state.
