After successfully conducting in Imphal West and Thoubal districts, the Manipur Health department will dry run for COVID-19 vaccination in the remaining parts of the state on January 8.
The state Health department, on Wednesday, said that the dry run was being held to assess the operational feasibility in the use of COVID vaccine intelligence network (Co-WIN) application in the field environment.
The mock drill on January 8 will begin from 10 am till noon, state health mission director Dr N Shyamjai Singh said, in a statement.
Even as the nationwide dry run began on December 28, the same was begun from January 2 in Thoubal district and Imphal West of Manipur.
The dry run exercise was being carried out to monitor the vaccine delivery, testing receipt and allocation, deployment of team members, mock drill of session sites with test beneficiaries and finally, the necessary data entry in Co-WIN app, the director added in the statement.
Meanwhile, Manipur’s COVID-19 overall infection tally surged to 28,484 as 66 more persons were tested positive for the virus over the last 24 hours.
The new positive cases included one personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), said an official statement of the state health department.
The overall recovery tally of the state also rose to 27,642 with 29 patients discharged after they recovered from the disease during the last 24 hours.
The number of active cases in the state stood at 479. The recovery rate of the state was 97.04%.
As there was no report of death due to COVID-19 related illness in the state in the last 24 hours, the cumulative number of deaths stood at 363 on Wednesday.
