IMPHAL: Students in Manipur preparing for competitive examinations may no longer have to leave the state in search of quality coaching, with Aakash Educational Services Limited (AESL) opening its first coaching centre in Imphal.
The announcement was made during a press conference held in Imphal on Wednesday, where the institute also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Assam Rifles to extend scholarships, fee concessions and academic support to serving and retired personnel and their families.
Located at Tharoijam in Imphal West, near Heaven Garden, the new centre has the capacity to accommodate more than 300 students. This centre will provide coaching for medical and engineering entrance examinations, including NEET and IIT-JEE.

The centre will also offer residential and hybrid learning options, a move expected to benefit students from Manipur’s hill districts who often face difficulties travelling to Imphal or other cities for long-term coaching.
Addressing the media, AESL Branch Manager Kh. Ricky said the opening of the Imphal centre was aimed at making quality test preparation more accessible to students in the state.
He said many students from the North East are compelled to travel outside the region for coaching, adding that the new centre seeks to reduce that burden by bringing structured academic support closer to home.
Alongside the launch of the centre, AESL announced a long-term partnership with the Assam Rifles to provide educational assistance to defence families. Under the MoU, gallantry awardees and personnel with more than 20 per cent disability will be eligible for a 90 per cent tuition fee waiver, while those with less than 20 per cent disability will receive a 50 per cent waiver. Serving and retired Assam Rifles personnel, as well as staff and students of Assam Rifles Public Schools, will also be entitled to tuition fee concessions.
