AGRIVISION: 1st Zonal Convention North-East Bharat held in Meghalaya with emphasis on Agricultural Innovation, Entrepreneurship

Shillong: The inaugural programme of the AGRIVISION: 1st Zonal Convention North-East Bharat was held today at College of Post Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences, Umiam in Meghalaya, under joint collaboration with Vidyathi Nidhi, CAU-Imphal, ICAR-NEH, AAU, Vidya Nidhi. More than 600 participants witnessed the event. 

Dr Anupam Mishra, vice chancellor, CAU-Imphal chaired this inaugural session, with chief guest Dr S.K. Singh, DDG-Horticulture, ICAR, New Delhi. Guest of honour Dr Bidyut C. Deka, VC, AAU, Jorhat, Assam, Govind Nayak, National Joint Secretary, ABVP, Subham Singh Patel, National Convener AGRIVISION.

Dr P. K. Pandey, organizing secretary of AGRIVISION-2024, welcomed the gathering while specifying the aims and objectives of this 2-day conclave. Dr S. K. Singh congratulated the agrivision team members for this noble effort and specified the wide potential of diverse agro products. He urged that students should not be job seekers and should be job providers. 

Dr Anupam Mishra, VC-CAU, emphasised creating demands for specialised products and revisiting our old wisdom to address various challenges and issues raised in the present agri and allied sectors.

Dr Bidyut C. Deka spoke about tailor-made technologies that need to be addressed for the North Eastern agricultural sector for self-reliance and also advocated the electronic marketing of products and grooming of agro entrepreneurs.

Govind Nayak, a special guest of the conclave said that the aim of Akila Bharathi Vidyarthi Parishath is to develop our students to be good citizens of India with the slogan of “Students are the citizens of today, not tomorrow” and narrated various activities undertaken by ABVP at national level.
