UKHRUL: The All Inpui Students’ Union (AISU) has condemned an alleged threat issued to Dr Linda Marangmei, wife of Dr James Bariam, after a letter and live ammunition were reportedly found at her residence in Ragailong, Imphal East district.
According to the AISU, the incident took place on December 30 when a sealed package containing three live rounds of ammunition, along with a threat letter, was discovered at Dr Marangmei’s residence. AISU described the act as a serious threat to her life and an attack on human dignity.

In a statement issued on Thursday, AISU said acts of intimidation and violence, particularly against individuals serving society, cannot be tolerated as they create fear and disturb social harmony.
The union urged the authorities to take immediate steps to ensure Dr Marangmei’s safety, identify those responsible, and initiate action through a fair and transparent process. It also appealed to the public to stand together against violence and uphold the rule of law.
AISU expressed solidarity with Dr Linda Marangmei and her family, stating that justice must prevail and peace must be maintained.
