Imphal: Alfred Kanngam Arthur has expressed strong confidence in the Congress party’s victory in both the Outer and Inner Parliamentary constituencies of Manipur. He is contesting from the Indian National Congress (INC).
When Newmai News Network asked him today about the apparent low-key campaign this time, the former legislator from Ukhrul assembly constituency said, “There is no such thing as low-key or high-key campaigns”. Alfred said that time has brought changes, and as such strategies of election campaigns have to be with time. “The people now understand who to trust and what to believe”, he added.

When asked on the myriad of issues prevailing in Manipur, and how he is going to address these issues if elected, Alfred explained in detail about his programmes and strategies.
An endeavour to throw positive notes on today’s situation by any one is often a struggle to garner the required tone and material. The prevailing situation not only creates a great deal of anxiety among the people but has also caused disorientation and confusion. However, Alfred was quite positive that issues can be addressed if the people choose the right candidates as their representatives.

The Congress candidate also said that, however burdensome the reality of the situation is, “we cannot afford to allow it to deviate from our primary responsibility”.
Alfred Arthur then said that aversion to planning or long term policy-making has been one of the factors that is putting the society to a near comatose state of affairs. He stated that society needs to start getting practical by voting wisely.
The situation of Manipur is quite peculiar. But these peculiarities and odd situations are not anomalies, and since they have come to define the state, Alfred Kannam Arthur said that a prudent intervention of maturity is the need of the hour. The Congress party candidate further said that “rhetoric” should be avoided as much as possible “if we really mean to address the problems”.

He also said that problems often get complicated as the concerned authorities often deal with things based on superficial observations. “We need to have a correct diagnosis of the problems”, he stated, adding, “Smokescreen policies and adhoc measures are not contributing at all. Rather, such measures are regressive”. As such, Alfred said it is time to work hard to heal this malady.
