All Garo Hills SSA School Teacher’s Association to begin week long boycott of classes from today

Disappointed with Meghalaya state government’s response to their continued demand for the release of their 8 months’ salary arrears, the All Garo Hills SSA School Teacher’s Association (AGHSSASTA) has announced a week long boycott of classes from March 1.

Informing on the decision the AGHSSASTA said that multiple memorandums and petitions to release 8 months’ pending arrears from 2016-17 PAB (Project Approval Board) have continued to be ignored by the state government.

“Our decision to protest comes from the frustration of submitting our petitions to the concerned authorities from 2017. Nothing has come off our requests till date and this has forced our hands,” informed the teachers, through a press communiqué.

The teachers association, as per their statement, felt compelled to boycott regular classes on the issue of arrears as the government did not listen to multiple requests over the past four years.

“We are taking a serious route on the issue for the greater and larger interest of all SSA teachers,” they informed.
