Alleged interstate drug supplier arrested with Heroin in Meghalaya

Shillong: An alleged interstate drug supplier was arrested along with heroin at Umtyra in the East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya today. 

Acting on credible source information, Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ), J Myrom, Khliehriat police and the ANTF team conducted Naka at Umtyra on NH-06 and arrested Thangsiammawia Paite from a commercial vehicle (Sumo), which was coming from Mizoram and heading towards Shillong, district police chief Jagpal Singh Dhanoa said.

From his possession, 20 soap boxes were found containing yellowish orange powder with a net weight of 252 grams which tested positive for heroin, the police officer also said.

The same was seized in the presence of independent witnesses for further necessary action as per the law. 

The police officer then stated that a case had been registered with the Khliehriat police station and an investigation of the same is underway to trace the forward and backward linkages.
