AMCU observes Jubilee of Hope 2025

Ukhrul, Feb 8: The All Manipur Catholic Union (AMCU) on Saturday observed a day seminar for the Jubilee of Armed Forces, Police and Security Personnel, Public Servants & Governments at the Retreat House, Mantripukhri in Imphal to acknowledge their commendable contribution and service to the society.

 The event, marking the Jubilee Year 2025, began with the Holy Mass by Fr. Dr. Ngaoni Paul, Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Imphal. In his homily, he acknowledged the selfless service and dedication of the catholic officers, which they display in their workplaces. He assured them the prayers and support of the catholic faithful of the Archdiocese.

The seminar began with words of welcome and introduction from Dr. Mathew Kamei, President of AMCU. The resource persons of the seminar were Dr. Fr. T. S. Dominic, Parish Priest, Assumption Parish, Awangkhul, and Fr. Joseph M Thohrii, Vice Principal, St. Joseph College, Ukhrul.

Fr. T.S. Dominic spoke on “The Role of Laity According to the 2nd Vatican”, where he emphasized how the Church expects the laity to be a messenger of Christ to the world around us. 

The second speaker, Fr. Joseph Thohrii, spoke on “Transformative Leadership of Laity in the Catholic Church in the 21st Century,” where he focused on living exemplary lives as Chrisitan and transforming our society with our way of living.

Jenpui Kamei, winner of the North East Voice hunt “Bring it on” contest, mesmerized the gathering with her melodious voice.

After the seminar, a book, “Pearls of Life,” authored by Fr. Joseph M Thohrii, Vice Principal, St. Joseph College, Ukhrul, was released by Most. Rev. Dominic Lumon, Archbishop Emeritus of Imphal. Archbishop Emeritus Dominic, while releasing the book, echoed the need for academic excellence and updated learning among young people.

The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr. Chipem Francis, General Secretary, AMCU where he acknowledged the presence of more than 100 officers coming from different districts and for their gracious presence on this auspicious jubilee event.

The event, moderated by Paveine Paulina, came to an end with a sumptuous meal served to all to mark the memorable day. It may be mentioned that the year of Jubilee 2025 is observed in the Universal Church to mark the 2,025th anniversary of the Incarnation when the Word became flesh in the person of Jesus Christ.
