AMMPACO concerned over safety and security of Meitei-Pangal Community

Imphal: The All Manipur Meetei Pangal Clubs Organisation (AMMPACO) has expressed growing concerns over the safety and security of the Meitei Pangal community in Manipur amid ongoing conflicts.

Briefing media at AMMPACO Office in Hatta, Imphal today, FM Manawar Ali, President of AMMPACO expressed concern and condemnation over recent incidents in which Meetei Pangal individuals were allegedly targeted and assaulted by individuals from the Kuki community.

He cited a specific incident on September 9 in which Kuki miscreants allegedly attempted to take the life of a Manipur Police Sub Inspector, Sabir Ahamad, who is from the Meetei Pangal community. He called on the Kuki community, particularly armed Kuki groups, to clarify their involvement in such incidents.

Manawar Ali recalled previous incidents, including a bomb attack in Kwakta, where members of the Meetei Pangal community were injured. He voiced concerns that the Meetei Pangal community, which has remained neutral during the ongoing conflicts in Manipur, could view the Kuki community as an adversary if attacks and violence continue. Representatives of the Pangal Students Organisation were also present at the media briefing.
