Amos Osha from Senapati Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel

Senapati, October 19: Joy and admiration fill Chowainamei village in Senapati district as one of its own, Amos Osha, has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army.

Lt Col Amos is the son of Heni Eshouw Mao, a retired Subedar from the 2 Assam Regiment, and N. Chisa Mao. He hails from a close-knit family of five siblings, two sisters and two brothers, and is the middle child.

After completing his schooling, Amos went on to pursue his higher education at St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Bangalore, where he excelled both academically and in leadership. His outstanding performance in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) earned him the title of Best Cadet, a recognition that foreshadowed his future in the armed forces.

Commissioned into the 6 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry in 2012, Lt Col Amos has since served in various locations and capacities across the Northern and North-Eastern regions of India. His service record includes a staff appointment at a Division Headquarters, reflecting his growing leadership and professional competence within the Army.

He is currently serving in the Jammu region with his battalion, continuing to uphold the values of dedication, discipline, and duty that have defined his career.

Lt Col Amos remains unmarried and is among the growing number of officers from Senapati district who have risen to senior ranks in the armed forces. With his promotion, Senapati district now counts over ten officers serving in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and above, a milestone that reflects the district’s proud tradition of service to the nation.
