Strongly condemning the incident of triggering an explosive inside its office premise, All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) on Wednesday termed it as an act of “terrorists.”

On Tuesday night, around 7.20 pm, a grenade was lobbed by unidentified miscreant(s) inside the office premise of the students’ body at DM University campus in Imphal. No casualty was reported in the blast even as the incident happened when some executive members of the students’ body were inside the office.

Addressing a press conference today, AMSU president, H Chalamba strongly condemned the bomb attack. He termed it as an act of terrorist.

While pressing the state government to cause the arrest of the perpetrator(s) at the earliest, the AMSU president sought the cooperation of the people in finding out the attacker(s).

Asserting that AMSU is a body working for the welfare and betterment of the students and Manipuri society, he insisted on clarifying the reason behind terrorising the students if any of the armed underground groups was behind the attack. He added that AMSU should be given a chance to rectify even if any of the activities of the students’ body had hurt the interest of any organisations.

Based on the CCTV footage installed at the gate and other parts of the AMSU office premises, the students’ body had earlier alleged that a person who came on a two wheeler and wearing a cap hurled the hand grenade.
