Ukhrul, September 24: Angellica Aribam, noted political activist and founder of Femme First Foundation, has been invited by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to speak at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), a press release said on Wednesday.

The invitation acknowledges her work on gender equality, youth leadership and inclusive governance. Her selection by the IPU is also seen as recognition of her advocacy in India and the growing prominence of South Asian voices in global policy discussions.

According to a press release, Angellica will address global parliamentarians and policymakers on the importance of empowering women in political leadership and strengthening democratic participation at the UNGA session.

I am committed to bringing forward the perspectives of women and young people who remain underrepresented in decision-making spaces worldwide.”

Angellica, who has been featured in Forbes Asia’s ‘30 Under 30’ list, has pioneered efforts to build inclusive leadership in India through her work with Femme First Foundation. Her participation at the UNGA underscores the critical role of youth and women leaders in addressing global challenges, the release said.
