Annual Literary & Sports Meet 2025 Kicks Off at Ukhrul Higher Secondary School

Ukhrul, October 7: The Ukhrul Higher Secondary School on Tuesday inaugurated its Annual Literary & Sports Meet 2025 with a vibrant program marked by discipline, culture, and inspiring speeches.

The event began with a well-coordinated march past by students of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadet and four school houses in front of the Chief Guest, Dr. Ringkahao Horam, Principal of Pettigrew College, the Guest of Honor, Rinthing Hongchui, and the school’s Principal, A.S. Josiah.

The inaugural stage also featured harmonious musical performances, including a special rendition of Viva La Vida by Coldplay performed by San and Friends, and a cultural dance presented by Vanmi and Friends.

Declaring the meet open, Principal A.S. Josiah welcomed all attendees and encouraged students to nurture sportsmanship and to positively influence their peers. “In this fast-paced world, education is the only way to lead us forward,” he noted, emphasizing the importance of balanced growth through academics and extra-curricular participation.

Guest of Honor Rinthing Hongchui, Addl.SP (Ops) Ukhrul, shared reflections on discipline as the foundation of success. “Drill is only the start of discipline. Practice, discipline, and determination are needed to be successful in life,” he said.

Chief Guest Dr. Ringkahao Horam drew an inspiring analogy from agriculture, comparing a golden paddy field to the rewards of persistent effort. “It doesn’t happen just like that it takes labour, care, and attention,” he said. He stressed the importance of physical activity for good health, linking it directly to mental strength and success in life.

The meet will feature a series of sports and literary competitions over the next four days, concluding on October 10, 2025. Students, teachers, and guests expressed enthusiasm and look forward to the athletic and cultural events, highlighting the school’s commitment to holistic education.
