ANSAM Condemns ‘heinous act of cold-blooded murder’ of three NSCN

Senapati, May 2: The All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM), “in no uncertain terms”, condemned the “heinous act of cold-blooded murder of three valiant NSCN soldiers by the combined forces of the Indian security force  and Assam police” on April 29, 2025, at the adjoining forest areas of New Kubin village and Herakilua village in the “Naga inhabited district”.

The ANSAM, in a statement issued today, said these “repeated atrocities of the Indian armed forces towards the NSCN have openly violated the official agreements of the Government of India and the NSCN”, and thereby failing to comply the “joint statement” of June 14, 2001, Bangkok, between the Government of India representatives and the NSCN wherein it was mutually agreed upon that the ceasefire agreement is between the Government of  India and the NSCN as two entities without territorial limits and both the parties would abide by the ground  rules as revised on January 13, 2001, both in letter and spirit, focusing on preventing offensive  operations and promoting peaceful environment for political dialogue. The ANSAM also said both the Government of India and the NSCN agreed to proceed with the peace process on substantive issues to bring about a lasting solution to the issue and  recognising the need for mutual trust and respect.

The statement of the ANSAM then said, “To the utter shock and dismay of the ANSAM, India, known to be one of the world’s largest democratic countries, has contradicted herself by not respecting the signed official agreements  between the two entities and by repeatedly committing belligerent atrocities towards NSCN thereby violating the spirit of the ongoing Indo-Naga ceasefire and peace talks and by continued delay of the  Indo-Naga peace dialogue after several rounds of talks without a logical conclusion to the protracted Indo-Naga  political issue”.

The ANSAM then said that, at this juncture, when the peace talks have been initiated between the two entities at  the “Prime Ministerial level” and when the Naga people deserve a better political treatment, “it is very disheartening and very  disgraceful and self contradicting of the Government of India to put the Naga political leaders in Indian prison”. Calling it as the “sinister policy” of the Government of India, the ANSAM said the former has also demeaned the ethics of its democratic administration by “disowning” their  own leaders who have valued and recognised the “unique history and situation of the Naga people” and  the official agreements signed between the two entities.

The ANSAM also expressed its “deepest homage to our three NSCN valiant soldiers who laid down their  precious lives for the right cause in defending our God given ancestral land and the rights of the people”.  The ANSAM said the “supreme sacrifice for the nation” by these NSCN cadres will be inked in the history of the Naga national struggle for self  determination and “we extend our sincere condolences to the bereaved family members , well wishers and  dear ones”.
