Imphal: The All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) said it was “flabbergasted” to come across the signature of 8 Naga legislators in the representation submitted to the Prime Minister of India along with other MLAs at this “crucial juncture”.
In a statement, the ANSAM said, “We, as a representative of a collective young Naga people, express our concern and resentment over the untimely move made by them negating the position of Nagas who do not support one group against the other during this prevailing situation”.

The Naga student body said it was “indeed unfortunate” to witness an untimely move from “our representatives”, while the whole “Naga populace” in the state of Manipur are unequivocally demanding the Prime Minister by organizing Naga people’s rallies to exercise political will to resolve the “protracted Indo-Naga political issue” based on the “historic” Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015, to usher the peaceful co-existence between the two “sovereign peoples, Nagas and India”.
The ANSAM then said Naga representatives are expected not to be a party to any group/group “sans Naga interest” and are cautioned against indulging in trifling matters and reminded them of their responsibilities as Nagas.

In the light of securing “ourselves and our ancestral land” in the midst of all threats and uncertainty, Nagas cannot afford to be divided having divided houses and every decision should be taken after thorough deliberations and without bias, the ANSAM also stated.
The Naga student body then appealed to all the Naga leaders to restrain from all divergent approaches and strive together in collective footing with utmost coordination and cooperation to “fence ourselves from external threat and achieve our desired goal”.
