Senapati: The All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has reaffirmed its stand today to “solely support the ‘Framework Agreement’ with loud chorus and lauds the visionary and selfless sacrifices of the collective leadership of NSCN for signing Framework Agreement with the Government of India on August 3, 2015, to bring an end to the old protracted political struggle of the Nagas with recognition of the Naga Flag, Naga constitution and integration as our inalienable rights opening a new chapter for a logical and unique settlement of the Indo-Naga issue”.

The ANSAM, while acknowledging Prime Minister Narendra Modi for signing the “historic” Framework Agreement with the NSCN-IM under his “visionary statesmanship and sheer determination to resolve the Indo-Naga political issue”, expressed its deep concern for not implementing the Framework Agreement in letter and spirit after eight years of its significant signing and 26 years of Naga political talks, demanding for a unique solution based on “unique history and situation” of the Nagas.

The ANSAM then appealed to the Government of India for necessary and immediate expedition of the impending Indo- Naga settlement based on the Framework Agreement signed with recognition of ‘Naga Flag, Constitution and Integration’ of the Naga people.

The ANSAM also said that, while Nagas are eagerly awaiting the peaceful solution of the Naga issue based on the Framework Agreement, it is expected of the Naga elected representatives, Naga intellectuals and Naga civil society leaders not to be a part of any resolution violative of the Framework Agreement in letter and spirit.

The ANSAM reiterated that any settlement without ensuring the “unique history” of the Nagas and outside the Framework Agreement will not address the political aspirations of the Nagas. The Naga student body also asked the Government of India to respect the Framework Agreement and expedite the solution focusing on one ‘mutually negotiated solution’ and discard any exploration for “piece meal-imposed solution” which will not serve lasting peace.
