Arms Recovered in Churachandpur

UKHRUL: A joint team of Churachandpur Police and security forces on Tuesday recovered a cache of weapons from Khaopijang village under Churachandpur Police Station. 

According to the Police, the Churachandpur along with security forces comprising of sections from D Coy of 157 CRPF, B Coy of 157 CRPF, D Coy of 129 CRPF,  DETT QAT 129 CRPF BN and D Coy of 70 BSF launched a Cordon and Search operation at Khaopijang village from 6 am, following a reliable input regarding a hidden weapon cache in the general area of the village.

During the combing operations, a total of 15 houses and 45 persons were verified, the police stated.

The police further developed reliable sources of the presence of arms concealed at the general area of Khaopijang village Cemetery, about 800-1000 meters away from Khaopijang village.

Immediately, the security teams proceeded towards the area and conducted elaborate searches of the general area. During the search, the illegal arms, including one AK Rifle along with a Magazine, one MA-3 MK II Rifle (II MM-3-61752) along with a Magazine, one INSAS Rifle B/R No. 18245053 along with Magazine, one .315 Rifle No. 9765 along with a Magazine, were detected concealed underneath thick bushes and trees. 

No arrest was made during the search operations as no one was present at the recovery site. The recovered illegal weapons were handed over to OC, Churachandpur Police Station for necessary legal action, the police stated.
