Imphal, May 1: The All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) has elected Asem Bhakta Singh as its new president for the 2025–27 term. The results were announced following a successful election marked by active participation from journalists across the state’s capital Imphal.

Alongside the president, eight members were elected to the union’s standing committee. The newly constituted committee comprises representatives from leading media houses in Manipur’s Imphal valley.

Elangbam Ojitkumar (Mushuk) of Impact TV; Haobam Pravinkumar Singh (Pravin) of Ichel Express; Khwairakpam Naoba of ISTV; Konthoujam Geeta of Imphal Times; Sonia –of Poknapham; Chanam Suraj of Kangleipakki Meira; Leimapokpam Shantikumar (Bhakta) of Eikhoigi Panthung and; Thingbaijam Lakhikanta (Lakhi) of Paojel, all Imphal valley based news outlets were elected as the standing committee members.
