Asia Model Physique runner-up Solimla Jajo set to compete in World Championship

Ukhrul: Making a breakthrough in her model physique professional career, state lass Solimla Jajo is all set to compete and participate in the upcoming 13th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship scheduled to be held at Phuket, Thailand.

The world event will be held from December 9 till 11, 2022.

With event fast approaching and given the high octane nature of the competition – Solimla who had won silver medal in the 54th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship 2022 in the junior Asia women model physique is also a champion in inter-district championship 2022 – is undergoing rigorous training under the guidance of his trainer Leishangthem Robert Meitei.

She will also compete in the upcoming State level Championship Miss Manipur Model Physique 2022 starting December 3 till 4, 2022.

“Fitness is not about good diet but also involve daily workout be it few minutes or hours. When a person is in intensive care unit (ICU), he or she will understand the need of good health. So, keeping that in mind, we should know that the only asset for a better and healthy generation is sound health.
“If you think fitness is costly, try illness,” Solimla conveyed in her message to the youths and people of the state on the benefits of sound health while talking to Ukhrul Times on Thursday.

In the recently concluded 11th Eastern India Bodybuilding Championship held in Kolkata from November 12- 14, 2022, she bagged 5th position in Women’s Model Physique in (open category) while Saratlunminthang Touthang secured 4th in 80 Kg bodybuilding in open category. Saratlunminthang is also the 4th position holder in the Mr. Khamba 2022 in the junior category.

Both are players of Royal Gymnasium, Ukhrul. The duo are trained by Robert Meitei, a renowned international bodybuilder who is also the principal of Central School Ukhrul.

On her training, exercise regime, Jajo said that she did two training twice a day without taking any day-off. In the morning session I did 30 minutes cardio followed by 30 to 45 minutes abs workout followed by minor weight training such as arms shoulder, calves, glutes and back.

In the evening session, I did cardio for 30 minutes, abs for 30 minutes and then major part workout like squad, chest and deltoid.

Talking about her daily meal plan, she said that prior to her workout she took 1 tab pantop,1 tab joints, 1 tab Liv52 and some fruits and oats. “After 30 minute rests, I begin my morning workout,” said Jajo.

When asked about the importance and role of trainer in the life of the bodybuilder, Jajo acknowledged the importance and role of a trainer, affirming that trainer knows the weak and strong points. So prior to competition, one can focus more on the weak bit. Even at off times, trainers not only train but also motivate me. To me it’s like a guide book – both theory and practical, she underscored.

Elaborating on her level of preparation, she admitted that the event being a world championship, it will be very tough as every athletes representing their respective countries have dreams of wining a medal. “I too have the same dream to get atleast a medal. I am keeping my mind sharp and calm,” a visibly composed Solimla Jajo shared.

“Health is wealth. On top of that, beauty with health is what I desire,” she responded commenting on the reason as to why she participated in women’s model physique competitions. Discipline and hardwork is the only key to success in any walks of life, according to her.

The following athletes namely Chingkheinganba Athokpam (junior body building over 75 Kg yrs) Khumanthem Sushil Kumar Singh (junior body building upto 75 Kg yrs), L Dinesh Singh (senior mens body building 75 Kg), Solimla Jajo (senior model physique 165 Cm), Karishma Chanu (senior women body building up to 55 Kg) and Arambam Maangal (senior mens sports physique upto 170 Cm) would participate in the world championship as Team India from the state, while Kishan Nepram will be their Team Manager.

To her credit, Solimla who hails from Kasom khullen in Kamjong district won the prestigious silver medal at the 54th edition of the Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship 2022 held at Republic of Maldives in the junior Asia women model physique. She was also the champion of Miss Manipur Model Physique 2019 in open category and stood 5th placed in Federation Cup 2020.
