Ratan, a clay artisan from Dibrugarh, earns his livelihood by making earthen products. His hard-earned savings are spent on purchasing the soil needed for these items. This soil is used throughout the year to make earthen lamps.
However, even with this effort, the number of lamps produced does not meet the demand of the entire city. Chandan, another artisan, says that a pug mill machine would help increase the production of these earthen lamps.
With growing demand for sustainable products and the government’s call for ‘Vocal for Local’, supporting these local artisans can significantly contribute to the nation’s overall sustainable development.
