Assam Rifles Celebrates International Women’s Day with Women of Senapti District

SENAPATI: Assam Rifles celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8, in association with Manipur Catholic Women Organisation at Maram, Senapati District.

The event was graced by Commandant 16 Assam Rifles as the Chief Guest who highlighted in his address the significant role played by women in society and emphasised the importance of empowering women through education, awareness and equal opportunities.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 250 women from Maram, Mao, Poumai, Zeliangrong and Tangkhul tribes and families of Maram Battalion who gathered to celebrate the occasion and promote the spirit of unity and empowerment.

As part of the event a medical camp was also organised for the women to provide them with essential healthcare services. A team of medical personnel conducted basic health check ups, including blood pressure monitoring, general health examinations and consultations related to common health issues faced by women. Medicines for minor ailments were distributed to the beneficiaries, ensuring immediate relief and guidance for maintaining better health.

The initiative was well received by the participants, especially women who often have limited access to regular medical facilities in remote areas.The event concluded with a community lunch, fostering a sense of togetherness and camaraderie among all attendees. The celebration served as a meaningful platform to honour the strength, resilience and invaluable contributions of women in society while strengthening the bond between Assam Rifles and the local community.
