ATSUM calls off April 4 proposed 12-hour total shutdown in hill dists of Manipur

Imphal: The All Tribal Students’ Union, Manipur (ATSUM) has called off its proposed 12-hour total shutdown in the hill districts of Manipur from 6 am of April 4, 2023.

The total shutdown was due to culminate at 6 pm of April 4, Tuesday.

The decision to call off the total shutdown came in the backdrop of the joint meeting with the state Government led by the state Health Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan, ATSUM representatives led by its president Paotinthang Lupheng, general secretary S.R. Andria, and the RIMS authority, including its director, ended in a positive note in Imphal on Monday.

The results of the Lower Division Clerk declared by the RIMS authority on March 3 stands cancelled, as per official Memorandum of Agreement signed among the stakeholders on Monday.

The meeting also agreed to follow with Scheduled Tribe reservation of 34 percent in the future recruitment.
