Senapati: Emergency meeting of the All Tribal Students’ Union, Manipur (ATSUM) and its federating units held at Senapati on Tuesday suspended the vice president of the apex tribal student body.
This development comes after the vice president, ATSUM, Vanlallien Khaute appended his signature in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the government of Manipur (GoM) and different tribal student bodies on August 7 without consulting his executives and office bearers.

The meeting reportedly decided to denounce the MoU that was signed between GoM and different tribal student bodies on August 7 because, not a single office bearers and executives were consulted when the MoU was signed on that day.
The student leader mentioned that whoever has signed in it had done in their own individual capacity without consulting his colleagues and the executives. In view of the unilateral decision by the vice president of ATSUM, Vanlallien Khaute stands suspended from the executives of the ATSUM. For further course of action, the student leader stated that another meeting will be organised on Wednesday in the hill areas of Manipur at 2 pm. All the stakeholders of ATSUM, ANSAM and KSO-GHQ and its federating units will reportedly have thorough discussion on how to move forward in the present scenario.
