The meeting with All Tribal Students’ Union, Manipur (ATSUM) and it’s federating units with the state government upon the invitation for discussion on the timely conduct of 2020 election of the Autonomous District Councils without any further extension of all members of 6 ADC failed to achieve an agreement today, a press note issued by ATSUM said.

The meeting, according to ATSUM was held at Hon’ble TA&H Minister Vungzagin Valte’s office chamber on the ultimatum served by ASNAM on Wednesday. The state government’s request for suspension of the proposed agitation came with a promise to take the matter discussed in the next cabinet sitting of the government.

However ATSUM in “serious consultation with its federating units, have declined the state government proposal for suspension of ATSUM agitation as the demand to issue ADC Election notification was not materialized”, the student body said.

With this latest development, ATSUM officially announced the “proposed 48 hours inter-state bandh and ban on the construction works of national projects in the state from 26 October shall remain effective”.
